Wine Making: The History behind it
The ancient Egyptians did it, and the Romans did too. There is evidence to prove that they participated in wine making. Wine making isn't something that is new; in fact people throughout history have been enjoying wine for as long as history has been recorded. The question is how was wine making discovered, and more recently how has it come into such fashion?
Watching birds at the end of summer you can see something really interesting: they love to peck at berries and fruits that have been left to ferment and rot in the hot sun. So it is easy to imagine cavemen figuring out whether or not it would taste good to eat this fruit too. It's easy to imagine a cave party with food, wine and maybe even some dancing.
The fossil record supports the ideas that ancient people could have discovered wine, but the first historical mentioning of wine making comes from the Egyptians about 2500 years ago. Since this time, wine has become more and more sophisticated, varied and drinkable.
How can a beverage that was invented thousands of years ago still be popular today? The answer is easy: because it tastes so good. Wine making is really a craft, and you need to have patience to learn to do it well. Sure, it is relatively easy to make wine, but it is really difficult to make a wine that a lot of people will want to drink.
Wine making can be as simple as fermenting grapes, but it can also be a very complicated process. Aging, measuring the sugar levels until they are at the optimum concentration, waiting, waiting and more waiting will definitely try the patience of nearly everyone who wants to give wine making a go. The end result is a great bottle of wine that you can share with your friends.
